In 2003 the Russian-Korean academic program was introduced. Professors of the Korean language developed intensive courses in Korean language within the university educational programs.
At present, professors of the department teach students who study at bachelor and master programs.
Under the agreement with the University of Anchorage, Alaska, USA, the Department organizes Russian language and culture programs to American students.
The priorities of the department are to provide high-quality language teaching for students of FESTU as future managers of the international level in order to participate in the programs of international co-operation; to form the multicultural competence for successful cooperation with representatives of different cultures, both in Russia and abroad.
Professors improve their skills taking part in courses of continuing education, in workshops of departments, as well as taking part in regional, national and international conferences. Three professors took online course on the integration of Internet resources for learning foreign languages, organized by prof. Michael Krauss (College of. Lewis and Clark, Portland, Oregon, USA) with the support of the U.S. Embassy in Russia.
The teaching staff activity aims to enlarge disciplines for Russian and foreign students; to develop on-line academic programs with innovative methods of teaching foreign language and cross-cultural studies.
