Science, Research & Innovation
Sphere of Activities:
FESTU's major objectives in the sphere of science and research are:
- obtaining of new scientific knowledge;
- organizing and conducting fundamental and applied research;
- development of new technologies;
- maintaining a high level of training teaching staff;
- sustaining of organizational cooperation of learning and research processes;
- and development of material and technical supplies for FESTU.
Conducting of fundamental and applied research and experimental-design developments is substantiated by the Charter of FESTU and is run by the Administration for Science and Research.
FESTU has formed and is intensively developing the structure of a research-production complex comprising of a range of research laboratories, engineering centers, centers for adoption of new technologies, creative groups of the departments and service subdivisions of FESTU.
Innovations
To promote scientific production in the market and its support FESTU, in conjunction with its partners, has developed an infrastructure for innovative activities comprising of research laboratories; engineering centers; centers for adoption of new technologies; business-incubators; and innovation centers.
Departments and laboratories of the University are an integral part of the Training-Research-and-Production Association "Far East State Transport University – Far East Railways".
University has established the following training-research-and-production centers:
- Center for Energy Audit of Industrial Enterprises which unites the efforts of the Faculties dealing with energy supply, heat engineering and water supply;
- Center for Certification of Working Places for the Requirements of Labor Safety aimed at conducting measurements for assessment of occupational safety and health standards; certification of works for labor safety in organizations; execution of papers and issuing of certificates of compliance for working places; inspection control over certification works for labor safety in organizations;
- Center for Humanitarian and Socio-Economical Research conducts research within the humanitarian and socio-economical sphere; maintains the University information data bank for humanitarian and socio-economical research; organizes and holds scientific research and practical conferences on the Humanities and Socio-economical Studies. In 2005 and 2006 the Center held the International Symposia "Cultural and Economical Cooperation among the Countries of Northeast Asia";
- Center "Technolog" is licensed to perform the following types of works: certification of welders and specialists of welding; mechanical testing; chemical analysis; nondestructive control. The Center has established new laboratories which are involved with: mechanized welding of metals; welding of polymers; chemical analysis and nondestructive control.
- Center "Innovation" is aimed at commercialization of the results of research activities of the University. The major objective of this Center is advertising and introduction of innovation products to the industrial enterprises and companies of Russia and abroad. The first results of the work of the Center were presentations and signing contracts with the Municipal enterprise "Strela", Khabarovsk Municipal Water Supply Enterprise "Vodokanal", Khabarovsk Union of Entrepreneurs and South Korea Corporation "Halla Соnkrete".
Research
The University conducts research on the following problems:
- Analytical and numerical methods for research in differential equation and their application for the problems of continuum mechanics, dynamics, stability, management and identification in statistically undefined situations;
- Initial and boundary problems for non-linear equations with partial derivatives and their application for continuum mechanics;
- Transport and technological systems of Russia and regions;
- Modeling complex transport systems and optimization of traffic;
- Railway rolling stock: research and design of nodes and hardware; maintenance and repair; automation of operational modes;
- Energy supply for railway transport: research and design of devices and systems and improvement of their reliability;
- Railway traffic safety systems, data communication systems and ptimization of engineering communication;
- Structural solutions and methods for calculations of railway track, industrial and civil premises, prognostics of the deformation of the Earth's surface and exploration of underground space;
- Market relations on railways and industry; management of resources of the railway transport; development and assessment of economical work parameters of railways; resource management on railways;
- Management and operations on railway transport;
- Information-analytical systems for operating enterprises of transport, industry and construction; information flow management; information security;
- Development of new materials and technologies;
- Anthropogenic impact on the environment and accident prevention in industry;
- Ecology and environmental protection;
- Expertise of enterprises of transport, industry and construction, expertise of their production, works, materials, products and potentially dangerous activities;
- Economy and management of professional training and provision of personnel for the industry.
FESTU holds thematic research conferences on the majority of the research trends. Students, post graduates, doctorate fellows, lecturers and scientific officers regularly participate in all-Russian, regional and international conferences.

We are pleased to invite you to a science conference that will be held on September, 29-30 in Khabarovsk.
The goal of the Conference: sharing experience in development, design, construction and operation of transport infrastructure; design and use of modern equipment, techniques and software; automation and informatization of transport sphere; development of international communication. The key topic of the Conference is the “Development issues of transport infrastructure of the Russian Far East and Asia-Pacific countries.
You have an opportunity to publish your research in the collected papers of the Conference. Your research should be of essential scientific value, original and not have previous publication history.
One author can publish up to 3 papers. Organizing Committee has a right to decline publication of the papers sent after the deadline or not meeting the publication requirements.
After the Conference selected articles will be recommended for publication in the special issues of internationally acclaimed magazines.
