March 3-17, 2020, Nagaoka University of Technology hosted the internship program for FESTU students Goncharuk Valeria and Nalobin Egor (group 941 Institute of Natural Sciences), who are studying on the educational program 09.03.03 “Applied Informatics” of the “Computer Engineering and Computer Graphics" department.

Candidates for internships were chosen according to the results of their project activities in the laboratories "Unmanned and Digital Technologies in Construction and Transport" and student design bureaus.

Nagaoka University of Technology is located in Nagaoka, Niigata Prefecture, and is one of the leading research centers in the region. This partner university has various support programs for foreign students who are receiving education or who come for an exchange.

The subject of the internship in the laboratory of management technology and urban transport engineering was connected with modern technologies of computer simulation of transport communications. Students got acquainted with the main characteristics of traffic flows, forecast models, typical elements of roads, available in computer simulation systems AIMSUN and VISSIM. They also mastered the application of mathematical statistics methods to analyze data obtained during computer experiments. In conclusion, they prepared and presented a presentation of the results. Working language of the internship was English.

The program also included tours around the university campus, a visit to the Nagaoka College of Technology (also a partner of FESTU), and sightseeing.
