Significant Project Approved

On December 2012 Far Eastern State Transport University sent the results of the research project “Railway Infrastructure Export and Import Potentials Increase by the Extension of Baykal-Amur Railroad Traffic Capacity. Complex Research and Scientifically Based Recommendations” to the Russian Federation Ministry of Transport, the initial customer for the project.

Defense of a project went through 3 stages. First, RF Ministry of Transport Scientific and Technical Council related working meeting with the participation of representatives of Russian Railways, research institutes, sea ports and sea transportation sphere examined the results of the research project. The Council suggested considering the minimal plan of а freight traffic development till 2030 beside the maximal plan of a development.

Then, improved project was reviewed at the enlarged session of the RF Federal Agency for Railway Transport with a participation of concerned officials, including Russian Railways Vice-President on Commercial Activities, Salman Babayev. Complex character and methodology of the research project were appraised greatly by the Session participants. They recommended the results of the project to be examined by RF Ministry of Transport Scientific and Technical Council.

Scientific and Technical Council had accepted the research project and approved it. Total results of the research were recommended for preparing the Baykal-Amur Railway infrastructural development projects realization suggestions, and also for correcting the RF Transport Strategy till 2030, which was approved by RF Government decree № 1734-р from November 22, 2008, as well as special federal programs for transport system development, and Russian Railways investment program.
